If I would have to change my name I will change it to Ava, I picked Ava because its a nice name and I've always wanted that name or something else.
This is the second activity and its about what you would change your name to, and explain why you would pick that name. I picked the name Ava, but if it changes to something else its a alright name but I like the name Ava better. But this is a good activity to see what people would pick there names too. I kinda enjoyed this and picking a new name is fun. This activity was fun picking a new name if you could pick it. Because mine will be Ava.
I am a Year 8 student at Glenbrae School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 7 and my teacher is Mrs Tofa.

Activity 1: Making the racket
This is the first activity for day 4. Its only the first week of doing the summer learning journey activities. This is the activity of women getting less paid and men getting more money and 3 facts about Venus and Serena Williams and what I want to know about tennis and other information. I did this activity by watching the videos that were given and write down 3 facts about the two videos that I have been watching and learning new information that I didn't.

Commenting
This is a different activity so I decided to comment on 5 people today but on different blog posts. I commented on Angela, Victoria, Florence, Ellenora, and Joel. I commented on their blog, but on different summer learning journey posts that they have done for the past few days of doing the activities. I commented with a greeting, then saying feedback on their posts and telling them what they should also work on for next time if they do it again. These comments were on different summer learning journey activities they have done, but some of them did commenting as well. I did 5 comments on different people and on different activities they have done, and said something good about it.
Activity 3: Achieving our Dreams
This is the last activity for today which was supporting your friends job in six different ways. I did this as well and helping my friend could be a good thing and I will always be there for her and I will always wanna help her when my help for her is needed. My friend Sakina will have her dream job at orthodontist and help people look good and better than before. This was a hard one to think of six ways to help that person and think of friends or someones dream job.
Activity 2: Defying the Odds
This is the second activity of asking players 5 questions that you want to ask them. I picked Lebron James and asked 5 questions that I've been waiting to ask him. Some of the questions were how old are you going to be when you stop playing basketball?, To be an basketball player please tell us some advice?, How many scores have you got through out the basketball seasons you have been playing?, thats some of the questions that I want to ask Lebron James. This is my DLO of asking 5 questions to Lebron James and this is day 3 and activity 2. This was a fun activity to do and asking famous people or sport players 5 questions.
Activity 1: Rugby Superstars
This is day 3 for activity 1 which was rugby stars. This DLO was about three superpowers that you would want and need. I created a DLO about the 3 superpowers that I would want and explaining why I would want that superpower, I got these superpowers cause I wanted to have it and its the 3 superpowers that I have been wanting to have in my life. This activity was hard to think about what superpowers that I want to have, but it was fun creating this and thinking of whatever superpower I want. I enjoyed doing this and explaining why I want these three superpowers.
Commenting
This is 5 comments of the people I commented on which were Sakina, Eyaka, Avalon, Joel, and Taheesha. I comment on the summer learning journey blog post that these people did for each days activity's that needed to get done. I commented on all different summer learning journey blog post and different activity's they did for each day. I did 5 comments and I'll do 5 more on different people. This was hard to do, but I found 5 people to comment on.

Activity 3: Miracle on the Hudson
I remember back in term 1 when we had camp and the second activity was the high beam and everyone was kind of scared to do it because it was very high. But I was the third to last person, when I was climbing up I was kinda scary but I was brave to get up there. So I climbed up and went so slow because I was that scared to get up there and come back down really safe, because I was scared to go up and come back down the high beam. But after I come down I wanted to go back up because I was very brave to do it and have lots of fun.
This is a blog post about someone you know or yourself that was brave to do something that you never wanted to do in your life. This was a hard blog post to do because I had to try and remember everything that I did in term 1 when we went to camp and had lots of fun. The activity that was hard to do was high beam which was hard and it looked really high and I didn't have that brave in me to do it. This was a very good activity to do but it was hard to think about.
Activity 2: One Small Step For Man
This was the the second activity was to create a poem and image than you are Neil Armstrong. This is a DLO of the poem of me imaging that I was Neil Armstrong and I was on the moon and seeing what it was like. First I created it and did information about Neil Armstrong. This is a poem that I tried to make about me imaging if I was Neil Armstrong walking on the moon and becoming the first one to be doing it. I really had fun doing this activity because it was about being the first one walking on the moon and doing a DLO about this poem.
Day 2: Activity 1: Flying Solo
Today was another day of doing summer learning journey activities. Today was day 2 of doing other activities, today's activity was about Amelia Earhart and Jane Batten. We needed to make a DLO and compare and contrast the both of them. What they did was fly solo without anyone. Jane Batten was from New Zealand Rotorua and her first solo flight was, England to Australia. Amelia Earhart was an American solo flightier, she saw her first plane at the age of 10 years old. This DLO needed to be about there solo flights to go around the country. Amelia Earhart disappeared in July 2, 1937, and Jean Batten died 22 of November 1982. This was a great DLO to create and learning new facts about Amelia Earhart and Jane Batten.
Activity 3: Scaling New Heights
SPCA - The SPCA help animals and its a place where they do charity where they help animals and owners with money and help if its needed. Also SPCA look after lost animals and animals that don't have owners and looks after it until the owner finds them or just keep them for a new owner. The charity that SPCA do, is give out money if people are needing to help their family or when the money is needed for something, and they also raise money for those who are really wanting money.
This is the last activity of today. This is about people making money and helping people with it. I did SPCA and talked about what they do as there job and being a charity to help people. The SPCA also helps people with their animals or when people are needing money in need. This short story was about people making charity money for others who need it in help. I picked to do the SPCA they look after animals that need help or have no owners and get charity money from them, and they also help the poor people and others that need their help.

Activity 2: Discovering Aotearoa
..................................................................................................................................
This is the second activity about discovering Aotearoa. This activity is about your family background. My family background is Tonga, My mother comes from Ahau and my father comes from Ha'apai in Tonga. I've been to Tonga for a muck around and had my best time there with half my family and some of them in New Zealand. The best food or drink to have is Otai because its just the right drink to have on a sunny day or just drinking when you want to. This DLO needed to be about your background culture and telling us a little bit about it.
Activity 1: Explores
This week is the start of the activities of the summer learning learning. This was activity was about list 10 foods you would take for your voyage. This week its about explores around the world and us doing different blog posts. This activity is about making 10 lists of food you would take with you for your voyage and why you would take it. I made a google presentation and added images of the 10 foods I would take and list down why I would take it.

This person is my aunty Stacey which works at a place where they make plastic color cups and buckets that get sent to different countries around the world for painting and the color cups go to butterfly creek, rainbows end, and more places in New Zealand and other countries. She has had a positive life and I've been to where the company is and shes been a good person at where her company is at.
This Task is based on someone who has had a positive impact of my life. I wrote to explain how my aunty works very hard and makes a lot of money.
This Task is based on someone who has had a positive impact of my life. I wrote to explain how my aunty works very hard and makes a lot of money.
Activity 2: When the Rubber Hits the Road
Today I did another activity which was introducing people. But the activity was about when the rubber hits the road. This activity was about you introducing three students or adults, I did Sakina, Taheesha and Joel, they introduced them on a DLO and said what they are proud of and what they did in the past few weeks of learning and talking in front of teachers. I had fun doing this activity and introducing people and doing it on a DLO.
Activity 1: Environment & Exploration
This week for day 3, activity 1 of the teaser week of SLJ, we created a DLO about the Water Project. Before that we watched a video about what the Water Project does. The Water Project is a company who supplies water to countries/communities who don't have access to water. After we watched the video, we created the DLO. In our DLO we included the goal of the Water Project, where they work and what they have achieved.

Activity 3: The Greatest Of All Times
Today I did the last activity and it was about pros and cons for the game of chess. This was a activity that needed to be done from the teaser week activities. This was a kinda easy activity to do because your pretty much talking about the pros and cons from the game of chess. This activity is about G.O.A.T, which means greatest of all times. I created this DLO to show pros and cons of what people would say out of pros and cons.
Activity 2: Equal pay for Equal Work
Is it fair? Why or why not? Be sure to explain exactly why you feel the way that you do.
Rugby men gets payed more than women rugby players. Fiao’o Fa’amausili has said that women get payed to the same equal as the men's. But women get payed to play rugby and men get payed more than women and thats why women should get payed the same equal as men. For me I think that men and women should get payed the same because its not fair for this to be happening. And I think no because the men's kinda play more than women's. But I think that both women and men should get payed the same amount of money. And Fiao’o Fa’amausili has been coaching the black ferns for quiet a long time and they haven't been getting payed that much money only men has.
This is another activity that I got to do for the teaser week. I found out that Fiao’o Fa’amausili coaches for the black ferns and the women hasn't been getting payed a lot of money, but she has been paying the women to play rugby and other sports. It isn't fair that women and men don't get payed the same amount of money. I think that this is bad, but at the same time its good as well because men play more sports than women do. I think that this was a tricky activity to do, but I found out now that men get payed more than women.

Today I completed another teaser week activity. But this activity is a different one which was about Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the fastest and famous athlete. She was born and educated in Jamaica, and during her college years she did well in her athlete and wining her the Jamaican schools championships at the age of 16. Now shes in the Olympics and beat the 100m sprint. Shes now 32 years old and still going on with the Olympics. I picked to do very simple sentences to make it easier to understand. In these sentences I used different parts to describe her in similes. I had fun doing this simple activity we got to do.
Activity 3: Big Friendly Giants
Today we got another teaser week activity about the bfg. First we needed to watch a short clip of something reading the book of the bfg. After you watched that we needed to draw the big giant and have 10 descriptive words to go with it. So I watched the video and did the drawing of the bfg and kinda tried my best at doing it, but I tried though. I enjoyed and had fun doing this activity because it was using google draw and drawing the bfg using the drawing tools in google draw.

Leader Script
Why I should be Head girl for 2020
Malo E Lelei, Kia Ora, and greetings to you all. My name is Miiana and I want to become Head Girl for 2020. I think I could be Head Girl because I have shown leadership this year by helping room 5 make their hovercraft and I relate well with both the younger students and my classmates. I also work well in collaborative groups and this is an important part of being a good leader. I show respect to teachers when I speak with them and work well in group situations. I am kind of a shy person when it comes to talking to the whole school, but I see it as a challenge to become more confident and know I can overcome this. This year I have become more confident and have presented in front of my class. I think it is important to demonstrate the CARE values and I am working hard to complete my CARE Awards. Recently I have earned my first badge but I’m still working hard to finish my other activities. As Head Girl I would like to inspire others and represent our school with pride.
Thank You
This is my speech about, why I could become head girl for 2020 leader script. Today was the day that we got to say it in front of Mr Johnson, Mrs Kiripatrick and the rest of the other year sevens. My speech was about being head girl for 2020, and also their was other roles that we could do which was manaiakalani leader, head boy/girl, and sports leader. I picked a role which was head girl and no matter if I don't get it , there's other roles I could do. But I was hoping I could be a head girl for 2020 but it doesn't really matter, because I could also go for any other roles that are there. I enjoyed reading my speech to Mr Johnson and Mrs Kiripatrick and I wasn't shy to say just stand there. I enjoyed doing this, but I really don't care if I don't have a role.

Phonics
Today we got another lesson with Mrs Linda for phonics, but we got a different type of lesson today. We needed chunks of sounds and the sound I got was ick and the rest of my group got a different one. Once we got our chunk words, Mrs Linda got us to write words in 2 minutes. We all got our words and put it in alphabetical order and let Mrs Linda check it to see if we got it correct. Later on after a few minutes we used one of our words to make a paragraph.

Market Day Evaluation
On Friday Afternoon, LS2 sold a range of 99 rainbow crayons, that were molded into different types of shapes. Instead of just melting a single color of crayons. We melted color crayons that would go well together. We used the digital color wheel to help us find the colours opposite each other. For example, Green and Red. Some of our colored crayons were melted in several colours from black, pink and white. We made different types of crayons, ones that will attract boys and girls. When it came to market day our whole store sold out leaving us with total cost of $88.00 dollars. So was our Ideas viable, Yes, Because we caught customers attentions which helped us make a profit + We made our price cheap of just $1.00 dollar. Our Net profit was $96.00, the costs were $8.00 minice 96-8 gives us 88. We made an impressive amount of money + instead of just paying cash we exchanged tokens to buy the item.

Athletics
Last week on friday we had a very fun day , which was athletics. On monday we got our colours and we got into what color we wanted to be in. I was in red with Jack, Jayden, Anug Naing, Joel, Taheesha and I. The colors that were this year was, blue, red, green, and yellow. The activities we did was, egg and spoon, long jump with the cone, getting the frizbie into the net and see how many times you get it in, rest zone/dancing, shot put, and the last one which was surf life savings. The first activity we started with was egg and spoon, we got 2 rounds for each teams and the team that won was green, then red, then yellow and blue. We enjoyed doing that activity and everyone moved onto their next activity. The next one was getting the frizbie in the net and the team and got the most was the winners, but the safety rule was we have to wait for everyone to get it in before we grab it again and keep it going until the next team versing each other. After that we did different more fun activities and enjoyed it so much. The last thing we did was the sprints which was the last part of the day. We had different students that wanted to race and placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Montagues & Capulets
This week we learnt about the story Romeo and Juliet. We watched a short video about the story to learn about it. After watching the story, we chose a scene. Haylee, Taheesha, Sakina and I chose the scene where the Montagues and Capulets slaves fought. Then we wrote a play of the scene in our own sentences using the Shakespearean translation. After writing our scripts, we presented it to the class. We created a DLO to show the montagues and capulets fight in pictures.

Pair Of Shoes
As I glared at the new shoe box my owner opened, I was devastated to find better and shiner improved shoes in front of my old owners eyes I could see the joy in his face as he got his new shoes. As I could feel him pick me up and looked disappointed as he threw me in the bin I felt sad and I could smell and feel old cans of food, diapers and left overs for a matter of fact, I felt like a left over. It was very dark in here. I thought I would never get replaced but I guess my biggest fear came true.
This week we got another lesson on writing, we did personification as if we were the pair of shoes and pretending that it had humans 5 senses. I was working with Taheesha. We were both thinking about if we were the shoes and she/he will be trying us on and writing a story about the pair of shoes. This was a challenge that we were going to face today, we needed to get our device and face back to back and share a DLO to each other and write our story for a pair of shoes, and we had to try and not talk to each other about it. I really enjoyed doing this even though it was a bit of hard challenge to do, but Taheesha and I think that we did a really did a good job.

Reading Presentation
For the past few weeks we have been learning about different history topics. My group was doing the great plague, and the rest of us did a different history topic. The great plague started way back in 1665 when a rat got infected by the bubonic plague jumped off a ship from Holland on the docks of London and went to the over crowed places where the poor people lived and they got the disease from the rat that got infected and had fleas. If one of your family members got the disease the watchmen would lock you up in your own house with them and made you get the plague and painted a red cross on your door to let others know that someone in your house has the plague. When the king knew he moved out of London and left the poor people to die. I was working with Nidhi, Neveah, Angelene, Taheesha, Ellenora and I. We created a DLO to show you facts and information we wrote in our own words and got a image from google and attributed it. I enjoyed learning this and knowing new information about the great plague of London and working with my group.

Food Print | Michal
Yesterday we had a visitor come to our school to talk about her business, which was Michal. She talked to us about her business and also growing up and thinking what business she wants to do. Her business is about food, she has a app which is called Food Print. It has lots of variety of many different foods but they don't have fast foods on there app. How it works is they have 2 cafes which has those foods and she hires people to work for the cafes. First you download the app, second you go onto the app and see what your wanting to get, then they make it for you and you go and pick it up from the cafe. Because its way different from uber eats, and if they deliver it to you they get payed also for bringing it to you. That's what the app is all about and how you could use it. Michal has been working on her business over 2 years planning and she just opened it 6 months ago. Facts she told us was 20 million loaves of bread was wasted in a year in New Zealand. There is 250 cafes that supply the food to meet customer demand. She was promoting/advertising/marketing, and needing to grow your own business by hooking new and new people to capture there interest. She also told us about when she gets more money she might maybe do another company for the poor people who can't afford food, clothes, etc that they might be wanting to have. We really enjoyed her telling us about her business and the app where 100,001 people have been using.

Maori
This week for Maori we did another fun lesson with Whare Odie. We used the poi to do some dancing with it. A poi is a ball with it inside or something and has a long string. We used the poi to do the e rona e dance with Whare Odie. We used our left and right hand to do some hand movements. We enjoyed doing this and having fun with the poi, and learning how to do movements with it. First we got a poi and stood in a circle and copied some movements that Whare Odie was teaching us to do with the poi. After doing some pretty simple movements with Whare Odie. We watched a video of St Josephs Girls Boreding School doing some dancing with the poi, we watched it and saw that one of the poi's were to fat to hold and it was just making so much mistakes with using the poi. After a few minutes watching that video, we stood back up and used the poi to dance to e rona e. We copied the movements and hand signs that Whare Odie was doing with the poi. On the half of the day we were learning tricks that were hard and easy to do. I had so much fun, learning how to use it and having fun doing movements with it and playing with it.

Maths
Today for math's we did a math's challenge which was math's challenge wall. We were doing numbers and playing with money. First we did the maths wall challenge and the number was 652. We did some strategy's with this, then roled a dice and did our own on a piece of paper. After we did that on the piece of paper we needed to answer it with our money and coins that we needed to use. I used the money to figure out how much money and coins I needed for my questions that I wrote on the piece of paper. I needed to make 31 because that was the number i roled using both of the dices. I did 5 ways of using money with making the number 31. I enjoyed doing this with my group which was Angelene, Ellenora, Johnathan, Sela and I. We all did this and mostly enjoyed playing with the money and having fun doing the maths challenge wall.

Ban or Keep Fireworks
Today Taheesha and I did a provocation DLO on should we ban or keep fireworks. We did a DLO based on this and what we did was yes, no, and our own opinion. In yes we said why we should ban fireworks because its bad for pets and for no is we wanted to keep fireworks , because it has been around for many many years. Also taking fireworks from out of no where kids might get angry and doing that from coming out of the blues is just not good. And for our opinion we did remember of Guy Fawkes and banning something thats really fun to do, so why ban something that has been around for those many many years. We enjoyed doing this DLO and having fun doing this with Taheesha.

Firework Saftey
This week since it was Guy Fawkes, we created a DLO about fireworks safety to show the room 2. For this DLO, I worked with Sakina, Taheesha and Eyaka. With the fireworks safety, we included 5 simple important firework safety rules with some photos. After creating the DLO, we showed it to room 2 and room 4. One of the important rules while near fireworks, is to always keep away while a firework is lit.

A want or a need | enterprise
This week for inquiry we did a research on enterprise and define what a want or need is about and added examples to it. I worked with Angela, Taheesha & I. We first needed to define what a want or a need was all about. After researching about it we added the definition to it and put 2 examples about a want or a need. On the other slides we had questions which were, how do we know or find out what other people want or need?, What is enterprise/an entrepreneur? that was the questions that we did for our DLO that needed to be answer. Our DLO is just based on enterprise and a want or a need. A need is when you need water, food, shelter, which are the most important things that could make a human being alive. A want is when I get older and I want to become a doctor or and artist since I enjoy art and helping people when I can. Sometimes something you want might not come true, and a need is something you really need in your life.

Robotics
This week on friday we had another session of tech with Mr Krishna and we were trying to use codes to get our mbot to move into a circle or figure of eight. A mbot is a little robot that you use in robotics and connect to your device and go onto ide.mblock website to control and use codes to control the mbot to move what action you want it to do, everyone gets a mbot each to use and you use any codes for you to control the mbot from moving to point A to point B, or you could also ask students around you to help you or for you to ask for them if you can use there codes. Today we needed to try and make it go into figure of eight and circle using the code that was on the t.v. screen. The circle was hard to do at first I found it more easy to do the circle by changing half of the codes and that made it more easier for me to do it. I tried to do a figure of eight but it was hard to do because I used about more than 3 codes to make it easier for me to make it possible to do.

Budgeting
This week for math we were given a challenge to complete together as a group. We were given a budget of $200 to do a weekly grocery shop for our maths group. We used an abundance of money to provide our group with enough healthy food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for one week. The challenging part was trying to decide what dinner was going to be, because most of us thought of different ideas, but at the end we chose which one was the best and cheapest.
Phonics
This week we did Phonics with Mrs Linda and Nidhi, Eyaka, Angelene, Johnathan and Neveah that was in my group that did phonics. We did "Ot" words and did a paragraph about it and put it into 3 sentences. After we did all that work we did Key into evaluation, and did a paragraph with using "Ot" words in our sentences. We also looked up the words of 3 "Ot" words in the dictionary and looked for the definition of the "Ot" words.

Would you show respect or bring such a mean attitude to someone that drinks alcohol and smokes, or having a traditional feast going on? In these cultures, you might venture to someone's house and find that they are smoking or drinking alcohol. It's not your problem to go to there house and mock them about it, because it's their life, don't like it get out or getting sick off it handle it. You just need to show respect for them. Like other cultures have a different well being than smoking and drinking.
Some other cultures don’t smoke or drink maybe because they quit smoking and moved on, sometimes other cultures will drink kava instead of drinking alcohol and smoking. These are other cultures that might be different from each other. Maybe some other cultures are just normal and has some other traditional things going on. For example India has Diwali, Tonga has kai bola/big feast, and some other cultures have different traditions or special things with their cultures.
Other cultures might do nothing it’s not us telling them what to do. We must show respect to them. Other cultures might do nothing but maybe just have a feast with family and friends instead of doing traditional things. For those people that don’t do anything special about their culture, it's not our problem to be noisy about it. Because that’s not showing respect and empathy to those people who showed you respect. Some other cultures don’t celebrate or do something special.
Like my family we dislike celebrating very big events, but we enjoy having feasts and inviting friends and family over. But our family is all about showing respect and being what we are. Sometimes we might not agree with each other, but in reality we do stick up for each other and we respect each other.

These are what we did for inquiry last term. We did this by getting into groups and making the year 7's be leaders for there team. I was working with Nidhi, Jospeh, Chavda and I. We worked as a team to make a good water filter together. In this DLO it shows you pictures of what we did and how we could see what they turn out into. And in the text boxes it tells you what we did and us taking part in this.

Early Maori Enterprise
This week for inquiry we have been learning about enterprise and economics. We have been learning about the Maoris trading for food or items. We also need to write down notes about how the Maoris were trading for items, and how European and British people came and took there land and the Maoris having nothing. I was working with Taheesha, Sakina, Joel and I. We did these 5 sentences with symbols. We need to stomp our feet, tap , tap our hand onto our laps, and clap our hands 10 times to get 10 symbols of our 5 sentences. Maori were the first to exchange items. Maori traded with hapu and iwi. They also created markets of food. Whanau would also make kai-moana. Maori started exchanging years ago.

Phonics
Today we did Phonics with Mrs Linda. We did Ock words and wrote a paragraph using the words from the list of 20 or 30 words we wrote down. My short paragraph was about my family and I going to the beach and we forgot to lock the house, and also forgot to bring the sunblock. We also inference a story about rivers and we answered questions with a question dice, which was a fun way to answer the questions. We also used the dictionary to find the meanings of the 3 words with ock in them.

Phonics
Today I had another lesson of phonics. We did the words that had op and read riddles and find the words with op in it. We found 13 words and circled the words in the sentences. We also have to find 3 words from the dictionary, that had meanings to it. After we did the easy work we did the hard one which we did was paragraphs with the word with op words in it.

Advertising
This week in writing to understand more about advertising, we created an advertising poster to sell a RWC (Rugby World Cup) item. I worked with Joel, Sakina, Miiana and I to create this advertising poster. The item we decided to sell were the RWC (Rugby World Cup) team jerseys. For this poster we tried to include different and convincing sentences to persuade others to buy this item.

I looked outside of my window and saw people playing. I took m cookbook
and put it away and went and played outside. When I came back inside the
house I got the cookbook and read how to make pancakes. It took me
4 or 5 minutes to read the recipe book and to know what I need. Then
I started cooking my pancakes and I was looking at it like it was gonna burn or
something might happen to my cooking. So if it burns I could recook it again.
So I looked back outside and I was so mad cause everyone was
gone and I wasted the pancakes. I love reading books, then putting them back into my bookcase. I love reading comic books but I don’t like reading other books.

At phonics I did 2 paragraphs about ook words. And we needed to find ook words in the dictionary to help us with getting 20 or more words. Then we needed to figure out the ook words that were in the long sentences and find the words with ook in it and under line it, so that we know its the words that have ook in it or at the end of it. At phonics we do paragraphs with whatever sound and make it into a paragraph and under line the ook words in the sentences.

Care Awards | Lorde
This is my first excellence and innovation care award, that I did about Lorde. I did this about Lorde, because she is a New Zealander singer, and I needed to make a DLO about Lorde and how she showed excellence and innovation in her life, because she was a New Zealander singer. Lorde started singing at the age of 13 and she made it into universal music because she was auditioning for singing around the world. She won 2 grammy awards, her stage name is Lorde and her full name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich, also another fact is that Lorde gets over 12 million dollars she earns because of being a singer on stage. Her stage name is Lorde but her real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich.

Explanation: Should NZ ban plastic straws?
Plastic straws are really harmful because it harms the sea animals. I think we should ban plastic straws because there are some toxic chemicals in these plastic straws which can poison sea animals, it can get stuck in turtles and birds noses so which is why we should ban plastic straws from New Zealand. Sea creatures and animals won’t be able to digest their food, if they eat plastic straws.
Plastic straws are known to have harmful chemicals in them. Would you let your family put harmful chemicals in their mouths? I think this is not only dangerous but also very unhealthy. This chemical can make these beautiful sea creatures passed away and their will be no more sea creatures surviving anymore, because of what people are dropping on the ground. There has been 65,000 plastic straws that has been wasted and not been reused again. Because these sea creatures won’t survive if there was still plastic straws around. Not only but plastic straws are really really dangerous to the sea creatures, which is not good for them.
We should ban plastic straws since all plastic does is never biodegrade and it causes problems. We should at least pick up rubbish that are plastic and put it into the bin because one day some sea creatures might see it in the water and might think that it’s food. Everyone could get off their bottoms and be picking up the plastic rubbish instead of having our sea creatures dying in the water with people having no brains, how would you feel if there was no sea creatures in the water? We should do this by picking up plastic rubbish and putting it into the rubbish bin. Because what would happen if someone passed away because of having a plastic straw to harm them, how would you feel?
Everyone in New Zealand and in other countries need to try and keep these marine animals alive and not dying because of plastic straws that are ruining their lives. And also think about all the harm these sea creatures are getting into. Its very sad for these creatures to die because of these harmful plastic straws.
I think this is why we should be picking up the waste of plastic that are on the ground and put it in the bin, cause if we don’t there’s gonna be a bigger problem going on with the sea creatures and we're gonna have no more sea animals to swim with.

Plastic Straws Opinion
This week for writing we did a DLO about should New Zealand ban plastic straws because its harming the marine and sea creatures. This DLO tells you about reasons to ban plastic straws and reasons why to keep plastic straws. On the top text box it tells you why we should ban plastic straws because on reason is because you can drink without a straw, it harms the sea animals, and it also takes 200 years to decompose in the landfill, also it has BPA which is the toxic chemical in it that can ruin your health. In the bottom text box it tells you why we should keep the plastic straws. This is my DLO about my opinion and facts why we should ban plastic straws and why we shouldn't ban plastic straws in New Zealand.

Tech | Graphics
This week for tech we were finishing our mini pieces for our 3D games. I was painting my board for my tic tac toe game, and the rest of the year 7's just left their bored how it looks like, also some other students were making clocks, connect 4 and puzzles, and I also had a little help from people to paint my board. We could make any 3D games for what were focusing about well Mrs Ferguson helps us in graphics. We thought that graphics was gonna be boring, but then when we get to create our own 3D stuff we got happy and knew that we could create anything that was 3D, but if we were stuck on something we would get Mrs Ferguson to help us do our 3D games. What I liked about graphics was we could make our own 3D game and with Mrs Ferguson helping us to make our 3D game or something that's 3D. I had so much fun making these 3D game or clocks, puzzles and others. Also using the website tinkercad to help us with making our pieces for our game and doing some challenges on it while some of us are still working on game pieces or getting the piece of our board painted in a color or get it spray painted. We all got to do what we wanted to do, like paint it or leave it the way that it is. Thank you Mrs Ferguson for helping me do my tic tac toe game and helping me with my game pieces.

Kiwi Can
This week for Kiwi Can we learnt about trying to be focused on work instead of getting distracted. The topic and theme for Kiwi Can was resilience and it means trying your hardest and bouncing back. We first played a energizer before we started talking about the topic. The energizer we played was Mexican wave, its when you do the Mexican wave around the little circle we made, we also did it in our own version. After we played Mexican wave we talked about getting distracted. We talked about all the things that can make you get distracted and distracting. What stops us from focusing us on work, online games, youtube, email notifications, chatting with friends, socail media, distracted by others screens, not paying attention, different priorities, not focusing on what you need to do, and going on something bad and making a lie to your teachers. After we talked about focusing on a task we play a distracted circle game. Its when you have 5 people in your group and one is in the middle, one person is in the front of them, and one in the back and two people on the sides. The person that is in front you have to copy the person, and the person on your left is singing a song to you, and the person on the right has to tell you a story. And you have to remember what they were telling you.

Persuasive Speeches
LI: To write a speech that persuades others to think the way you do. In the past 3 weeks we wrote a persuasive speeches, for the school competition. My speech was about why we should wear mufti to school. We did this by watching a video and trying to get how to write a persuasive speech. After a few weeks we had to practice our speech on Que cards. I was in a small group to say our speeches, and the rest of everyone had to say it to the whole class if they wanted to be in the school competition. When it was the day for the school competition the students from LS2 that was presenting was Mele, Marieta, and Jack. Out of them was first place, second place, and third place. Third place was Marieta, Second place was Jack and first place was Mele. I was so happy for the speech competition.
Title: Why we should wear mufti to school.
Title: Why we should wear mufti to school.
Malo e lelei, My name is Miiana and I really don’t like wearing school uniform. I have many clothes stuffed in my drawers so why can’t I just wear mufti to school, instead of wasting $140 dollars that can be spent on food for families and friends, instead of getting uniform that gets ripped and wrecked in the middle of the year?
First of all, I think that it’s good to wear mufti to school, because some students might not be able to afford school uniforms. And yes, another reason is because some students like to pick what they wear, as they have many choices to choose from. I believe that we should wear mufti because parents can afford those types of mufti clothes and spending $140 dollars are just too much for them, just to get uniform.
Some people think uniforms are better as kids might feel embarrassed because other kids wear branded clothes and they might not be able to afford them. I disagree because it's cheaper than my mum having to find $560 because there are four of us at this school, but most importantly I don’t like looking the same as my friends.
Finally, I think that we should wear mufti because uniforms get dirty quickly and not all of us can afford to have more than one uniform.

Tiny House
During our Math's lessons we have been learning about Area and Perimeter, To showcase the strategy of Area and Perimeter we designed and constructed tiny houses using paper templates and also using our prior knowledge to help us design small furniture for our home style living. For this task I worked well with Joel. We worked as a pair to get this finished and doned with. We thought that this was gonna be easy for us but then when we had to make 3d furniture for our tiny house I knew that it was gonna be hard.
