Activity 2: Discovering Aotearoa

This is the second activity about discovering Aotearoa. This activity is about your family background. My family background is Tonga, My mother comes from Ahau and my father comes from Ha'apai in Tonga. I've been to Tonga for a muck around and had my best time there with half my family and some of them in New Zealand. The best food or drink to have is Otai because its just the right drink to have on a sunny day or just drinking when you want to. This DLO needed to be about your background culture and telling us a little bit about it.

I come from a village near your mother’s village called Kolonga. I have to agree with you about Otai being the best drink to have, do you put breakfast crackers in yours when you drink it? Cool photo too! :)

Hello Miiana! This was a great start to the Summer Learning Journey. I loved reading about your cultural background, and your story. I've learnt a few new things about you which is really fun. I'm also Tongan, and I can definitely understand what you've said. Although I've never been there yet, I'm sure it's beautiful and amazing. What is your favorite thing to do over there? Great work!

ReplyDeleteI found it interesting that the myth of how the Tongan islands were created is a story about a giant cutting a rock into pieces. Are there any other myths about Tonga?
