Te Oro Workshop Trip
Today we went to the Te Oro workshop as a school trip, we went with the whole room 7 and room half of room 9. First we went on the bus and took our bags with our lunches in it and everything else that we needed. When we got there we meet one of the teachers that was gonna teach us. We had to wait outside for a little while then we took off our shoes and went inside while they were singing. Then we sat down while one of the other teachers were saying a karakia / prayer. After that they all introduced us to them and talked about what activity they're gonna do. After all of that talking we went into groups and them went to our work shop tables and started with our lesson that we got today. We were mostly talking about Matariki and the importance of it. My group first did art, we did 4 patterns that were Pikopiko, Niho, Koru, Margpie that were the 4 designs we did today for art with our 2 teachers. This was fun to do so after that we went to see the rocks with Whare Kelly and she was telling us the story behind all of it and why its important for us to keep it and how long shes keep her rock for. Later on after all her talking we went back in the work shop and started painting our rocks and designs them. This was fun to do, after that painting we went outside and learnt the Matariki maccerna. After learning that each group got up and they had 3 speakers to talk about what they did, and something they learnt during there work shop lessons. After that everyone standed up and did the dance that we learnt then sang a song then said a closing karakia. Today was a fun day because I learnt something different and new and it was so much fun going on this school trip after lockdown.
