Maths Activity
Today we had a maths lesson with our group. This week we've been learning about decimals. We did a activity with decimals, we went outside my maths group. Then we got our papers with different decimal numbers on it. The instructions was to put it on smallest to biggest, we tried doing it with our first try. And then Mrs Tofa told us if we got it right or wrong. We got it wrong but at least we tried our best, we swapped places and then Mr Tofa told us we got it right. So then we came back in a group and discussed what we did to get the right answer with the decimals. This was fun to do and I had so much fun learning about decimals.

Maths Activity
Today for maths we did individual activities, I needed to work out the perimeters of the rectangle and add them up to get the answer to my problem solving question I got. This was good understanding but kinda hard when it comes upto the adding bit with these huge numbers. This was fun to do and learning how to add the width and length.

Maths Activity
This is a activity I did today for maths, its about measuring the piece of string and seeing what it adds upto altogether. The answer we got was 4.9cm, and the 2 answers we got before we add it was 1.3cm and 3.6cm so altogether those 2 answers added upto 4.9cm.
Walters Maths
This week I did one of Walters maths activities, I did activity where I needed to add 3cm+4cm+5cm = 12. So all together the answer was 12cm because it was a addition activity.

Maths
Today for maths we've doing fractions, we did making ta'ovala as our problem that we needed to solve. The question was Malakai's mother is making ta'ovala for all the boys in the Tongan group at school, Each boy needed 1 1/2 meters of mat and she has 30 metres. How many ta'ovala does she make? We need to problem solve how many boys were in the Tongan group and how many metres they need for their ta'ovala. My group was Ali-Jon, Soane, Valarie and I, we were working together and helping each other out so that we could get the answer to it. We first problem solved the 1 boy and added it with 1 1/2 and we got 3 metres and then we did it over and over until we got 10. But then after that we were getting the answer which was 20 but we thought it was a different answer so we did it the same way that the other group did so we got the answer 20. Then it was times up for finding out the answer to it, so then the other groups got to solve it so then we finished with our maths lesson.

Maths Observation
Today we had a maths observation and we had Mr den here with us today. Today was fun learning how to add the fractions together and learning some new things. We first got into our maths group and Mrs Tofa was working with our group which was taha. We were solving a fractions problem where the each house had 10 liters of water and the two groups that finished there water was Nikau and Kauri, and the 2 other groups that never finished there water was Rata and Kowhai and we needed to solve how much water was left altogether. At first my group that I was working with was a bit confusing but then they explained it to me and then I finally got the hang of it and knew what I needed to do. So this was lots of fun learning something I haven't learnt.

Thinking Teams / Maths Questions
Today in maths, we worked in our thinking teams to find the answer to maths questions. In the photo you will see my group, "Less, Same, More", working out the number value of our group name. To do this we used addition strategies and our place value knowledge. In the second activity we worked as a group to put the population numbers in order, from the highest to lowest. To do this we used our place value knowledge.

Transformation
Today we were learning about the vocabulary of transformation. Transformation in Geometry describes the changes made to shapes when you rotate, translate, enlarge, and reflecting. We made DLO'S to help us understand what each transformation looks like.

Maths
Today for math's we did a math's challenge which was math's challenge wall. We were doing numbers and playing with money. First we did the maths wall challenge and the number was 652. We did some strategy's with this, then roled a dice and did our own on a piece of paper. After we did that on the piece of paper we needed to answer it with our money and coins that we needed to use. I used the money to figure out how much money and coins I needed for my questions that I wrote on the piece of paper. I needed to make 31 because that was the number i roled using both of the dices. I did 5 ways of using money with making the number 31. I enjoyed doing this with my group which was Angelene, Ellenora, Johnathan, Sela and I. We all did this and mostly enjoyed playing with the money and having fun doing the maths challenge wall.

Budgeting
This week for math we were given a challenge to complete together as a group. We were given a budget of $200 to do a weekly grocery shop for our maths group. We used an abundance of money to provide our group with enough healthy food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for one week. The challenging part was trying to decide what dinner was going to be, because most of us thought of different ideas, but at the end we chose which one was the best and cheapest.
